On April 10, 2025, we hosted Workshop 2: Decision Support Systems that Integrate Climate Information, Risk Assessment, and Adaptation Planning (for Extreme Heat) — a hybrid event held at UNSPMF and online.

The session began with an insightful keynote by Prof. Dr. Rob Wilby from Loughborough University, UK, who delivered a compelling primer on global heat risks and urban impacts. His talk set the tone for the day, offering a clear view of how climate change and extreme heat events are reshaping our cities and everyday lives, and how science can guide future responses.

Throughout the workshop, participants engaged with the latest research on extreme heat across global to city scales, conducted rapid vulnerability and overheating risk assessments, and explored how artificial intelligence can play a role in supporting climate adaptation.

We were also honored to hear from Dr. Gordana Kranjac-Berisavljevic of the University for Development Studies, Ghana, whose contribution added valuable perspective on regional climate challenges and adaptation needs.

This session provided an excellent platform for interdisciplinary exchange, practical tools, and forward-looking ideas to help navigate the growing challenges of extreme heat.
