A scorching heat wave has gripped parts of central and southern Europe, pushing temperatures to nearly 40 degrees Celsius (104 Fahrenheit). The oppressive heat, exacerbated by high humidity levels, is impacting both healthy individuals and those with existing health conditions. Italian authorities, along with officials in neighboring Croatia and other regions, have issued urgent warnings.

No Relief in Sight:

In Croatia’s popular tourist destination, Dubrovnik, the temperature at dawn was already 28 degrees Celsius (82.4 Fahrenheit), indicating relentless heat throughout the day and night. Last month, similar extreme conditions in Montenegro, Bosnia, Croatia, and Albania led to a significant power outage due to overloading and the collapse of a regional distribution line.

From Italy to Romania, authorities are advising the public to take precautions: stay hydrated, avoid outdoor activities during peak heat hours, and drive carefully, especially if traveling for holidays.
