In recent weeks, Reyhaneh Sohrabi and Azadeh Shojaei travelled to Serbia to meet with researchers from GILAB (Belgrade). GILAB is a young company born in 2015 dedicated to developing innovative solutions based on ICT and Geoinformatics. The name of the company stands for Geographic Information LABoratory. Founded by Ph.D. holders and experienced researchers, GILAB is built on a long-term experience in spatial data processing, geographic information modeling and visualization.
Azadeh, with her expertise in urban design and architecture, brought a strong focus on the role of urban spaces in responding to climate change. Currently involved in the SPICE H2020 , an European project, which explores the social and cultural dimensions of public space, she highlighted how thoughtful, climate-aware design can play a crucial role in shaping more resilient and sustainable cities within the Clear Climate framework.
Reyhaneh, specializing in AI and computational linguistics, contributed a complementary perspective. As part of the ALFIE, an European project, which focuses on using AI to support inclusive and accessible communication, she explored how intelligent systems and human-centered language can enable broader participation. In the context of Clear Climate, her focus was on making climate information more understandable and accessible to diverse communities, regardless of language or dialect.
Together, their conversations with the Clear Climate team centered on identifying where these interdisciplinary strengths could intersect, linking spatial design, intelligent systems, and inclusive communication.
This visit marks a promising first step towards a deeper collaboration, illustrating how combining design thinking and advanced technologies can open new pathways for more inclusive, participatory, and effective.
