🌍 Exciting Collaborations in Climate Research! 🌍

Over the past few weeks, the ClearClimate staff exchange between PREVISICO (UK) and WU-DES (NL) has officially begun! As part of this initiative, WU-DES had the pleasure of welcoming Dimitrios Bouziotas, flood modelling lead at PREVISICO, for a visit during February and March.

On March 6th, Dimitrios presented PREVISICO’s research focus and goals to senior researchers at WU-DES, sparking insightful discussions on:

✅Cutting-edge modelling techniques and knowledge exchange

✅ Potential collaborations in climate services, with a special focus on PREVISICO’s ongoing work

Key research areas identified for collaboration include:

🔹 Statistical downscaling algorithms for climate variables (WP4)

🔹 Explainable AI architectures for climate services (WP3)

With two upcoming secondments (March-April & May-June), these connections will play a crucial role in strengthening our partnership and advancing research in climate services.

Additionally, an exciting discussion emerged between Dimitrios and Dragan on urban climate and heat island effects—a topic with strong potential for future collaboration. Stay tuned as this develops in the coming months!

🤝 Looking forward to more fruitful exchanges and impactful research ahead!
